Where is Handsworth?
Handsworth is a one-member ward in Birmingham with an impressive park (see image) at its centre. It was created as a result of the re-organisation of Birmingham into 69 wards following the Kerslake Review. Situated in the north west of the city It is bordered by five other wards: Handsworth Wood, Holyhead, Soho & Jewellery Quarter, Lozells and Birchfield. It is part of the Birmingham Perry Barr parliamentary constituency. It is home to a diverse community consisting among others of people of British, Irish, African, African Caribbean, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Vietnamese and Eastern European descent.
Handsworth Ward is currently represented on Birmingham City Council by Councillor Hendrina Quinnen and in the House of Commons by Khalid Mahmood MP.
